As someone who lives much of her inner life in the past, I am enjoying this year’s theme of Hindsight and I hope you are too! One awesome perk of this year’s theme is reconnecting with past clients and catching up on their lives! Recently, we were blessed to speak with James and Amelia Ireland, a couple I remember vividly because of Amelia’s interaction with our site prior to meeting them in person. They also made a terrific impression on us simply due to the depth of research and preparation which went into their pre-engaged and engaged seasons. If there was a book on marriage, Amelia … [Read more...]
Experiencing Someone Who Feels Like Home (Necessary Dating Experiences, Part 1)
At the ripe old age of fifteen, a well-meaning gentleman in my life decided his nephew and I would make the perfect match. Okay, maybe he did not think we would be perfect, but he definitely had high hopes for success. After all, he was active in his church. I was active in mine. He was a fine young man (as I was told repeatedly by his family). Some considered me a fine young woman. We both had brown hair. You know, we were clearly a Billy and Ruth Graham in the making. ~smile~ Over the months, however, we began to grow weary of each other. He thought I was moody. I thought he was the … [Read more...]
Twenty Financial Tips Every Couple Wants to Know
Do you remember when a ten-dollar bill felt like a thousand bucks? Do you remember going out to eat with adults and not even thinking about how much the meal cost? Do you remember gleefully opening birthday presents without worrying, “Wow, I hope they did not spend too much on this!?” Not too long ago, Mom and I watched an old VHS of my 1991 piano recital. After the music faded and the cake came out, I opened some presents from my parents. I was horrified as I watched my unimpressed face open one item after another. They were not extravagant gifts, but they were gifts from the goodness of … [Read more...]
How Should We Celebrate Valentine’s Day?
When I was a child, I loved Valentine’s Day! The hearts, the red and pink, the balloons, and the candy! Every February 14th, I woke up, went into the kitchen, looked on the table, and saw a card and Skittles or Starbursts from Dad; and, next to my stash was a card and box of chocolates for Mom – Dad never forgot. It was a small gesture which I looked forward to every year. Mom is not a huge gifts person, and Dad was not either, so I do not remember either of them making a huge deal over V-Day. For me, Valentine’s Day was about passing out little cards to classmates and eating myself sick with … [Read more...]
Hindsight Interview with Dominic and Maegan Immordino
Recently, we had the pleasure of sitting down with a couple we worked with almost five years ago, Dominic and Maegan Immordino, to get their insights about married life and all its ups, downs, surprises, and joys. They are such sweethearts and we were blessed to get to know them better as they later attended the church we attended until their move to Wake Forest, NC, last summer. It is exciting to watch God work in the lives of couples. So many relationships end due to selfishness and one or both partners giving up. So, when you see a couple who loves each other well, it is worth taking the … [Read more...]
