{Eric’s note: Please note that though Heather uses the term “counsel” (and other words based on that root word) in this post below, we are not licensed counselors. We often use the term “counseling” because people identify with that concept more readily in the context of what we do instead of “relationship coaching.” We have, however, earned Master’s degrees in Marriage and Family Therapy and have worked with many couples over the last several years as relationship coaches with stellar reviews and testimonials.} “Pre-engagement counseling.” Maybe that phrase still leaves you scratching your … [Read more...]
Seven Ways for You and Your Sweetie to Revel in the Autumn Air! (Celebrating Autumn, Part 3)
In case I didn't make it clear in my previous two posts, I LOVE AUTUMN! The crunchy leaves, the beautiful colors, the crisp air, and the tasty apples! If had to pick one season to live in perpetually, it would be Autumn (with maybe an occasional Spring day thrown in here and there). Autumn, or the “almost to Christmas, but not quite” season is full of activity and excitement. Kids don jackets and play outside until dinner without complaining about the heat. Kids dress up in cute costumes and beg for candy (Halloween’s not my thing, but I do love seeing kids in their costumes). Pictures of … [Read more...]

Yes, indeed, the fall season has so much to offer! But, just like any good party, we know it cannot last forever. Winter is coming. We … [Read more...]
What do the Changing Seasons Tell Us about Relationships? (Celebrating Autumn, Part 1)
Spring and Autumn are my two favorite seasons. If I had to choose a favorite, Autumn would win every time – though I do love the new life, warmth, and joy that Spring brings each year! Eric and I began officially dating on June 11th, 2004, and we got married on June 11th, 2005; so, we decided to have a “Four Seasons” theme for our wedding. In our reception, we had one table with Spring foods, one table with Summer foods, one table with Autumn foods, and one table with Winter foods. The space between our wedding cake tiers were filled in with silk flowers that represented each … [Read more...]
No One Ever Told Me We Would Fight About This! (Topics to Agree on Before Getting Engaged, Part 3)
Some of your married fights will go down in family history. Eric and I will be talking about our Winnie the Pooh store brawl for years to come. And, then, some of your fights will be so silly that you will almost instantly forget them. Below are a few topics which are sure to bring up some reoccurring “silly” fights if you and your future spouse are not in agreement on them! They may not land you in couples’ counseling or divorce court, but they can certainly rob you both of some peaceful moments! Temperature. This may not seem like a big deal, but you’d be surprised! If one of you … [Read more...]
