Eric is one of the most transparent people I have ever known. You do not have to wonder what he thinks because he will be happy to tell you. Sometimes, I feel the urge to elbow him gently to keep him from saying too much in certain situations. ~smile~ Alternately, I do not say enough, which is also a problem! If you added us together and divided us by two, we would be an average person! In addition to saying what he thinks, Eric is not terribly concerned with impressing people. He is confident in who he is, what he knows, and what he has; so, he does not see the point in worrying about … [Read more...]
Playing Follow the Leader in a Corn Maze
My sweetheart’s birthday was a few weeks ago at the beginning of October. He had to go on a business trip and it ended on his big day! So after he recouped a little from travelling all day, we went to dinner at a French gastropub and then came home for gift opening time. I’m excited to report that he loved his tennis racket shaped electric bug zapper! ~smile~ Several years back, Eric and I went to a friend’s house to carve pumpkins. He had a blast and he’s mentioned it every year since. Unfortunately, I’ve dropped the ball on making that happen again until this year! So, the Saturday before … [Read more...]
The Economics of Traditional Marital Roles
ABC News aired a clip on March 9, 2011 which answered two questions, the first of which dealt with chore-splitting between marriage partners. In it, they find that economic theory supports a marriage that is not 50/50 (where both partners share the same duties to make the division of labor "fair"). Instead, economic theory shows that when people specialize in tasks and do them more efficiently than another, it makes sense to let that person do those tasks while the other person is doing tasks which is more suited to him/her. This is called "comparative advantage." In the end, both spouses will … [Read more...]
Your Primary Lifetime Ministry
Today’s blog is going to rally against what you often hear American culture telling you: you do not determine your life calling. “What do you mean? I can be anything I want!!!” That is true, but God’s rules for marital roles have a lot to say about what you should do…. Men, I’ll address your situation further below; however, first I’ll address the ladies. Proverbs 31 is clear about the requirements for a godly wife and I will be the first to admit that I have failed miserably in that area. However, through the grace of God, He is teaching me to be a godlier wife as the days, weeks, … [Read more...]
Lead Me by Sanctus Real
This is an amazing song born out of a singer's reaction to his wife asking him to be a stronger leader for her and their children. The first video is the song itself; the second video is the songwriter talking about the lyrical content and the story behind it. Guys, listen to the song and make it your prayer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLr6G8Xy5uc http://www.vimeo.com/11629244 … [Read more...]
