A fun “getting to know you” question to ask your date, boyfriend/girlfriend, or fiancé/fiancée is this: “What would you do if you suddenly had ten million dollars?” The way a person spends his or her money can tell you a lot about his or her character; but, it is also fun to consider what you really would do with that kind of money. If I had ten million dollars, I would tithe to God (by definition of the word “tithe”, that would be ten percent). After that, I'd have some serious fun. My idea of serious fun is buying and giving gifts. First of all, I would probably take a million or two … [Read more...]
How Many Blessings Do You Want?
About an hour ago, I e-mailed Eric and asked him if he would be willing to transfer some money from his Starbucks gift card onto mine. He's been cutting back on sugar (though, he loves raspberry mocha fraps) and thus has not frequented coffee shops as much as he used to. Last Wednesday I used up the last $2 on my Starbucks card, and as you could imagine, I feel rather insecure when I lack coffee cash. ~smile~ About five minutes after asking him if he'd be willing to transfer a certain amount from his card to mine, he told me that the Starbucks money had been transferred. Little acts of … [Read more...]
Where Do You Want to be in Ten Years?
Ten years ago, I was finishing up community college and was weeks away from graduation. I had plans to go to Liberty University in the Fall, and after that, I had no idea where I would be. My mind was only focused on the next year ahead of me. Sure, I hoped I would get married after college, and have kids, but I don't remember if I ever sat down and really tried to picture where I would be in ten years. Ten years was so far away. There is no way I could imagine being almost...thirty! Well, it's now here! Ten years later and I'm almost thirty. What's scary is how fast the time flew. … [Read more...]

"I love you" are the three little words we all long to hear. They seem so simple and they roll off the tongue, but the meaning behind them is truly awe-inspiring. Too often, those precious words are uttered not to convey love, but to receive love. Maybe you or someone you know has experienced this. You find yourself in a new relationship, so overwhelmed with blissful feelings, and before you know it the words “I love you” come flying out of your mouth while you stand there in hope of receiving an "I love you too" in return. The beginnings of new relationships often do make people feel on … [Read more...]
Should You Appreciate Men and Women Differently?
Sometimes it takes a touching movie, tragic news, or observing a nasty fight between a couple in public to remind me how blessed I am to have Eric. We've been married several years now and we are past the stage of excitement every time the other one enters the room. As the days pass, I sometimes forget that he cannot automatically know what is going on in my heart. When I hear his car pull into the carport, I get excited. I'm so happy when he comes home from work. Yet, when he comes in the door he usually gets a smile and maybe a hug if my hands aren't covered in whatever I happen to be … [Read more...]
