This week we had the distinct pleasure of catching up with a wonderful couple who we still miss meeting with all these years later – Joe and Megan! This couple has an amazing work ethic and it is hard to remember a moment when they were not smiling and having a great time with each other. We do this work to bless other couples; yet, often, our couples end up blessing us! Joe and Megan went through our pre-engagement program in the Fall of 2016 and our pre-marital program in the Summer of 2017. They met at Washington State University, both studying in the agricultural department. … [Read more...]
Seven Reasons to Get Away from the One You Love
Shortly after each year’s Christmas and New Years’ festivities conclude, I start dreaming about the beach. Though I am not a hot weather person most of the time, I start itching to feel the sand between my toes and catch up with the girls (read: lifetime friends who are now women). For as long as I can remember, we long-time friends gather every summer at the Oceana Pier in Atlantic Beach for some salt-water therapy. We catch up on the goings on in our lives. 40 Tips for Better Communication
He snatched the plate from my hand and set it down hard on the table. Surprised, I just looked at him. What was his problem? I was giving him his choice between the two biscuits. What a horrible way to treat someone who is trying to be nice to you! Later that day, Eric suggested we talk about the uncomfortable exchange at the kitchen table. Calmly, we each explained what we interpreted from the situation (had we discussed it in the moment, I doubt my reaction would have been so calm). Eric said, “You have a habit of handing me stuff when I am in the middle of something. I was actively … [Read more...]
How to Love Your Physical Touch Partner (Love Language Practical Tips, Part 2)
The below post has been one of the most upvoted posts on our site. In this Year of Hindsight, we are revisiting several highly upvoted posts and are highlighting and updating them! Ah, physical touch. This love language belongs to my sweet man. Eric is absolutely in love with back rubs, neck rubs, and hand rubs. The average person might get annoyed after twenty minutes of continual touch, but not my hubby. I could rub his back from the start of church until the end and he would still not be satiated. (And, he gets it honest. His dad is the same way!) Physical touch can be a frustrating … [Read more...]
Our Favorite Personality Tests
Some couples fall in love over candlelight at a fancy restaurant. Some see each other across a crowded room and the world stops spinning. Others think they hate each other passionately until they realize they are in love (Hallmark movies, anyone?). Eric and me? We fell in love guessing strangers’ personality types in our university cafeteria. Nerds? Well, maybe just a little. ~smile~ To this day, we love discussing all things personality with friends, family clients, church members, and pretty much anyone who wants to dialogue. Recently, we were at an event when Eric overheard the phrase … [Read more...]
