When I was ten, I was already dreaming about my honeymoon. My best friend recalls me floating down the beach in an inner tube, completely unaware of how far I had drifted. When they finally got my attention, they asked me why I had floated so far. My response? “I was on my honeymoon in Hawaii.” Daydreaming has always been an issue for me. ~smile~ Something to bear in mind when you are planning your honeymoon is the fact that people dream of “this amazing trip” for many years. Often, when we dream of something for so long, reality does not do it justice. So, I would encourage you to go into … [Read more...]
Freedom from Shame – Letting Go of the Past (Preparing for the Honeymoon, Part 2)
The honeymoon is an exciting time in a couple’s life. They have made it through the wedding; they are officially married; and now before the challenges and responsibilities of married life take hold, they get to enjoy some time alone in an enchanting location. Honeymoons are considered “good” by most people. But for some, the impending honeymoon evokes feelings of sadness. “Why didn’t I wait?” “I wish I could take my virginity back.” “I wish I could look forward to being with my future spouse without these feelings of shame and regret.” The Past Talk Eric and I are firm believers in … [Read more...]

Some would say that women dream of the wedding day and men dream of the wedding night; but, I can assure you, women dream of the wedding night too. ~smile~ Couples plan the wedding meticulously, but they often have no plan for the wedding night. We will go to a room and have sex! … [Read more...]
Minimizing Last-Minute Wedding Stress (Preparing for the Wedding, Part 3)
When I was planning my wedding, someone told me that once the wedding day came, the little details we brides all worry about would not seem as important. Once you are getting your hair and makeup done and it hits you, “I’m getting married today!” how many Hershey kisses are on each reception table just does not matter so much. The week of my wedding, I met my brother-in-law and his family and my husband’s best friend from California. I drove to North Carolina to get last minute details situated (or to do what my godmother directed me to do as I was a bit clueless ~smile~). I made one of my … [Read more...]
12 Wedding Priorities (Preparing for the Wedding, Part 2)
Hindsight is 20/20 – and that is an understatement. On one hand, it is too bad we only have one wedding – because after the wedding, each couple understands much more of what they would like in a wedding. Before the wedding, we don’t know what we’re doing! At least that was the case with Eric and me. Eric had a lot of big ideas. Our wedding theme was “the four seasons” and he wanted the sanctuary transformed into Christmastime and would have been thrilled if it could’ve been turned into a winter wonderland (in the middle of June). Strange, considering how much he hates snow. ~smile~ Mainly, … [Read more...]
