I remember being young and shy. I remember not knowing what to say to the girls who made my heart flutter. I remember the nervousness I had when talking to them or calling them on the phone. So, at that time, was I ready for a dating relationship? No, I wasn't. Why is that...? Women who I've talked to in discussing what they are looking for in a mate said that they wanted a strong man, a man of integrity, a man who has a sense of purpose and direction, someone who wants to provide for his wife, is willing to work hard, and a man who will fight for what is right. Women, am I right? (comment … [Read more...]
The Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness
Often, people shy away from being kind to others because they have been previously hurt. For some, they were kind to people who took advantage of them; whereas, some people equate kindness with weakness; and where some people think that kindness is being fake. Make Your Wedding Memorable (JK Wedding Dance)
One of the pieces of advice we share with our client couples is: make your wedding memorable. This is a day to honor and glorify God, but He is also glorified when we are having righteous fun. What does longsuffering (i.e., patience) really look like? The word “longsuffering” in the Greek is makrothumia, meaning “forbearance” or “fortitude.” This same word … [Read more...]
Mom (Tara Leigh Cobble)
I first met Tara Leigh Cobble a decade ago as a girl travelling the country doing concerts. Today, she has matured as an independent artist and has amazing talent - and is still travelling the country doing concerts. Her last CD, "Morning's War" was in my car's CD player for months (the dynamics, thoughtfulness, and artistry of the music are amazing - I especially liked the percussion in the album). She's also an author of two books and on her way to writing a third. For Mother's Day, today, she wrote a blog post about her mom. I found it insightful and thought I would share it with … [Read more...]
