About an hour ago, I e-mailed Eric and asked him if he would be willing to transfer some money from his Starbucks gift card onto mine. He's been cutting back on sugar (though, he loves raspberry mocha fraps) and thus has not frequented coffee shops as much as he used to. Last Wednesday I used up the last $2 on my Starbucks card, and as you could imagine, I feel rather insecure when I lack coffee cash. ~smile~ About five minutes after asking him if he'd be willing to transfer a certain amount from his card to mine, he told me that the Starbucks money had been transferred. Little acts of … [Read more...]
Did You Know You’re Weird?
We're all weird. I spent so much time worrying about fitting in when I was a kid. Too bad it took me so long to figure out that everybody has weirdness inside. But, you know... it's actually quite... beautiful. Normal people are just so stinkin' boring! No matter how awesome you think you are, you have weirdness in you. Did you know you’re weird? And, if you don't find that weirdness yourself, your future spouse will find it! Some refer to weirdness as quirks, idiosyncrasies, eccentricities, or peculiarities. To get the ball rolling, I'll disclose one of my quirks. I am a bit of a … [Read more...]
There Could be a Lighthouse Jacket in Your Future!
Has anyone ever warned you not to make fun of how someone looks because your kids will end up looking the same way? Though I doubt there is scientific evidence to support that, I will warn you that if you make fun of someone, you can expect to reap it back somehow. If you make fun of that awkward guy in college, your son may end up being that awkward guy someday. If you make fun of that girl with the weight problem, you may find yourself twenty years down the road trying to reassure your overweight daughter that she is beautiful. On a lighter (and personal) note, if you make fun of a … [Read more...]
Where Do You Want to be in Ten Years?
Ten years ago, I was finishing up community college and was weeks away from graduation. I had plans to go to Liberty University in the Fall, and after that, I had no idea where I would be. My mind was only focused on the next year ahead of me. Sure, I hoped I would get married after college, and have kids, but I don't remember if I ever sat down and really tried to picture where I would be in ten years. Ten years was so far away. There is no way I could imagine being almost...thirty! Well, it's now here! Ten years later and I'm almost thirty. What's scary is how fast the time flew. … [Read more...]
The Fantasy of Marriage, Part II
Over a year ago, I sat down to write a blog on the fantasy of marriage while my golden retriever puppy, Ramsey, whined her fluffy little head off. It was almost impossible to concentrate on writing due to her relentless screams for attention. She made it clear who she thought was in charge! ~smile~ In the post, I made a profound comparison.... At the time, I compared the fantasy of bringing home a perfect, adorable puppy to the fantasy I once had of bringing home a perfect, adorable husband. In the same way that my dream of owning a perfect blonde doggie died when I brought home a stubborn, … [Read more...]
