Today, I feel kind of worthless. I woke up not feeling well, so I went back to bed. Got up again, met Eric for lunch, came home, and since then I’ve been sitting in front of the computer. Unfortunately, all I can seem to think about is how worn out I feel. Hopefully, I’m dealing with allergies because I’ve had more colds to deal with this year than I ever care to have again. Because I feel so “great,” Eric has likely found me slightly less exciting. Last night he asked me to listen to something on the computer when I was just about ready to hop into bed. By my response, you would’ve thought … [Read more...]
This Too Shall Pass
Today, as I was walking my dog, I heard a song I haven’t heard in a while and it took me back about fifteen years. The song is “Beyond” by Aaron Geoffrey and is a song I used to love as a teenager. In fact, I used to sing it at church fairly often. It was one of those songs that I would sing if I didn’t have time to prepare a new song or if I was in the mood for an old standby. I can remember singing it on my sixteenth birthday. Though I had some grasp of what this song was saying then, I think time and life experience has helped me appreciate it even more. And, in twenty years, I’ll … [Read more...]
Are You Worried about the Four Horsemen? (Four Horsemen, Part 6)
(Miss the beginning of this series? Check out the other posts!) Though I may not have been confident about everything in my future, before I married, I was quite confident that I was going to be good at marriage. After all, I studied marriage, I read books about marriage, and I wanted to help other people have good marriages. My life pretty much revolved around marriage – my future marriage and others’ marriages. And I found Eric. He also wanted to help couples with their relationships. He had a realistic (as much as he knew back then) picture of what marriage would be. So, we were … [Read more...]
Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You (Marriage Proposal)
When I think of the song "Can't Take My Eyes Off of You" by Frankie Valli, I immediately think of Heath Ledger's performance in the movie 10 Things I Hate About You running through the bleachers. Because of the revitalization of this song in the movie, many modern-day young-people think of the song as a way for a man to publicly express his love for his woman (and potentially in a somewhat embarrassing way!). Enjoy these beaus sing to their ladies culminating in an engagement! … [Read more...]
Stonewalling – The Fourth Horseman (Four Horsemen, Part 5)
(Miss the beginning of this series? Check out the other posts!) When my brother-in-law was in college, he and some buddies decided to play a joke on one of their friends. They were on their way home from a road trip and while one of their buddies was asleep, they parked in front of a wall and, in unison, they all started screaming. So, the poor guy woke up in a car and saw a wall just feet in front of him. In terror, he joined in the screaming until he realized they weren’t moving. Wow. When he told me that story, I laughed until I cried. As mean as it was, I had to respect the … [Read more...]
