The ceremony is over, you have danced the night away, and finally you are alone in the car waving goodbye to your friends and family. You are headed to your evening destination. It’s here. We actually made it. Tonight is the night! Like the wedding day, the wedding night is something people dream of for years. Some would say that women dream of the wedding day and men dream of the wedding night; but, I can assure you, women dream of the wedding night too. ~smile~ Couples plan the wedding meticulously, but they often have no plan for the wedding night. We will go to a room and have sex! … [Read more...]
Minimizing Last-Minute Wedding Stress (Preparing for the Wedding, Part 3)
When I was planning my wedding, someone told me that once the wedding day came, the little details we brides all worry about would not seem as important. Once you are getting your hair and makeup done and it hits you, “I’m getting married today!” how many Hershey kisses are on each reception table just does not matter so much. The week of my wedding, I met my brother-in-law and his family and my husband’s best friend from California. I drove to North Carolina to get last minute details situated (or to do what my godmother directed me to do as I was a bit clueless ~smile~). I made one of my … [Read more...]
12 Wedding Priorities (Preparing for the Wedding, Part 2)
Hindsight is 20/20 – and that is an understatement. On one hand, it is too bad we only have one wedding – because after the wedding, each couple understands much more of what they would like in a wedding. Before the wedding, we don’t know what we’re doing! At least that was the case with Eric and me. Eric had a lot of big ideas. Our wedding theme was “the four seasons” and he wanted the sanctuary transformed into Christmastime and would have been thrilled if it could’ve been turned into a winter wonderland (in the middle of June). Strange, considering how much he hates snow. ~smile~ Mainly, … [Read more...]
What to do After the Proposal (Preparing for the Wedding, Part 1)
When Eric and I were dating, I knew a proposal was coming; I just did not know when to expect it. He asked me to keep my ring finger “free” so he would not have to remove a ring when it came time to put the engagement ring on my finger. For the most part, I complied with his wishes; however, when we went home for Thanksgiving, I put my college ring back on so my parents could see me wearing it. It was a gift from them and I wanted them to know I liked it! When Eric noticed it, he questioned why my ring finger was “taken.” Perhaps I thought he was a bit silly for caring – especially since … [Read more...]
It’s Me or the Dog! Prioritizing People and Pets (Pet Week, Part 3)
Sadly, my dad is not a dog person. He has learned to love Ramsey (even though he is still grossed out by her slobber and won’t pick up her lawn deposits), but he probably won’t ever have a dog of his own. When I was about ten, my grandma brought us a puppy. Though I cannot remember the breed, I do remember this dog being a yipper. Yip, yip, yip... all night long! We tried letting him sleep in the laundry room, but no one could get to sleep with the racket he was making. I knew nothing about dogs at the time, so I had no idea how much he needed to be near us. He was in a new, scary place, … [Read more...]
