When I was planning my wedding, someone told me that once the wedding day came, the little details we brides all worry about would not seem as important. Once you are getting your hair and makeup done and it hits you, “I’m getting married today!” how many Hershey kisses are on each reception table just does not matter so much. Hindsight is 20/20 – and that is an understatement. On one hand, it is too bad we only have one wedding – because after the wedding, each couple understands much more of what they would like in a wedding. Before the wedding, we don’t know what we’re doing! At least that was the case with Eric and me. Eric had a lot of big ideas. When Eric and I were dating, I knew a proposal was coming; I just did not know when to expect it. He asked me to keep my ring finger “free” so he would not have to remove a ring when it came time to put the engagement ring on my finger. For the most part, I complied with his wishes; however, when we went home for Thanksgiving, I put my college ring back on so my parents could see me wearing it.
