Experience Friday: The Seven Day Diet! (Jumpstart to a Healthy Lifestyle or Just a Week of Torture?)
Since last August, I have been trying to lose weight and improve my health. Though I still have a long way to go, I do feel so much better. I’m less easily exhausted, I have fewer ailments, and I feel more like a 30-something instead of a 60-something. ~smile~ Still, with all the health and wellness improvements I’ve made, I still feel like I’ve been in a bit of a weight-loss rut lately. Something as ingrained in our character as saying, “I’m sorry,” should come naturally to … [Read more...]
What May Come Tomorrow (Experiencing Wisdom from the Book of James, Part 3)
“Come now, you who say, ‘Today or tomorrow we will go into such and such a town and spend a year there and trade and make a profit’— yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes. Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’ As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil. So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” (James 4:13-17, ESV) We can get a lot out of the passage above. If you don’t do what you know is right, … [Read more...]
