When you envision your wedding, what music do imagine hearing playing at it? Different people have different styles and tastes – and there are also family considerations to take into account. Some couples may choose their song selection based upon the theme they have chosen for their wedding. Increasingly, marrying couples are choosing modern versions of the classics or non-traditional wedding songs altogether.
Heather and I spent a good deal of time trying to find the perfect wedding music. I’m more of a traditionalist when it comes to such things and Heather didn’t prefer classical music during the wedding; so, we made a compromise… to have classical, traditional music during the processional and recessional and a couple other contemporary songs in the middle.
So, here was our wedding music lineup:
- Processional: Canon in D by Pachelbel
- Video “Growing Up” Montage: A Page is Turned by Bebo Norman
- Solo: Every Season by Nichole Nordeman
- Solo: I Will Be Here by Steven Curtis Chapman
- Recessional: Wedding March by Mendelssohn
Since I play the drums, I did however long-envision playing Plankeye’s “Beautiful” in our wedding; however, the church we were married in did not approve since it is a harder rock song. But, we had a memorable wedding nonetheless.
Take time and think about what sort of wedding music you’d like to hear on your wedding day!
… and just for fun… ~smile~
