Rebecca Black is back with her second single, “My Moment.” Most people fall into one of two camps: love her or hate her (at the time of this writing, the day the video released, her new “My Moment” video on Youtube has 36,952 likes, 62,340 dislikes, and 302 views – yes, you read that right). In any case, she does a good job of creating buzz. “My moment” begins like this:
Were you the one who said that I would be nothing Well, I'm about to prove you wrong I'm not the only one who believes in something My one wish is about to come true I'm not stopping for you No matter what you do I'll just keep on dreaming My head up in the clouds when nobody is around to see...
Whether you like her or can’t stand her, the one thing that you have to admire is her tenacity to push forward and live her dream. And, at least to this point, she hasn’t put anything morally objectionable in her music and videos.
So, why post this on PreEngaged?
- So, I could link back to the parody Heather and I did on her song Friday about Ramsey (our golden retriever) – you should watch it! ~smile~
- But, secondly, in all seriousness, Ms. Black is being a person that is worthy of emulating in her fight for her dreams. The song is even about moving forward from where she was and that she’s going to make it no matter what others think. It’s a good reminder to do the same with the passions and dreams that God has placed within us in order to bring Him glory.
And, if I won’t get too many rotten tomatoes thrown at me, I must say… the new song is more professional / mature than her first release. Whether it’s good or not… I’ll leave that up to you.
