Today, I wish my sweet Eric a very happy anniversary! {Eric’s note: And a very happy anniversary to you too, Heather!} Ten years ago today, we became an official “item;” and nine years ago today, we stood in front of a crowd at my home church and vowed to be together till death. We have come a long way since then! Some days, it is hard to believe we’ve been married nine years. Other days, I cannot believe we’ve only been married nine years. ~smile~ Let me just tell you – we are still together and happy by God’s grace. Month-iversaries (or Mensiversaries) Because we were officially … [Read more...]
Our Wedding (Our Story, Part IV)
{If you came here in the middle of the story, you may want to start with Good Friends Make the Best Spouses (Our Story, Part I) first!} While enjoying the idea of being engaged, we realized that we had some major differences. He was a go-getter and I was, shall we say, not a go-getter. He was a perfectionist; whereas, I wanted to save time, money, and headache. On our way to North Carolina to see my parents, Eric noticed that I was wearing a ring on my left … [Read more...]

Before Eric, I was afraid to date male friends because I was concerned that doing so would wreck our friendship. In some cases, that is true. Randomly dating a friend is a recipe for disaster in many cases. As a teenager, I occasionally dated guy friends because it seemed like the fun thing to do at the time (though, with more … [Read more...]
Good Friends Make the Best Spouses (Our Story, Part I)
Sometimes I enjoy thinking back to how Eric and I first met - taking a trip down memory lane. It was the first day of the Spring semester at Liberty University. I walked into my new class, Group Dynamics, and did what I always did – I found a seat on the second row like my mother always taught me to do. Sitting on the front row may get you more attention than you want, but on the second row you are still close enough to focus on the professor and to look interested and studious. After sitting down and getting situated, this exuberant guy I'd never seen before turned around and introduced … [Read more...]
