To say that trust is essential to marriage is a gross understatement. Trust may be easy to give in the beginning, but once it’s lost, it’s incredibly hard to regain. Not impossible, just incredibly hard. When choosing a mate, there is one very important question to ask yourself: “Do I believe this person is basically good-willed toward me?” Basically Good-willed In his amazing book, Love and Respect, Emerson Eggerichs touched on the concept of good will. This means that even though your sweetie does not always hit the mark, occasionally hurts you, and sometimes fails to treat you lovingly … [Read more...]
Fixer-Upper (Ode to Frozen, Part 3)
Did anyone else think that Kristoff turned our remarkably well considering he was raised by trolls? Who wouldn’t want to be raised by trolls? Well, I guess most of us wouldn’t, but these trolls were exceptional... I suppose. ~smile~ I must admit, the song Fixer-Upper does not hold a candle to Let it Go, but I definitely appreciated the message of the song. Did you? So He’s a Bit of a Fixer Upper. Something about Let it Go makes me feel like I can conquer the world! I just adore inspirational songs. ~smile~ Many of us can relate to Elsa, which might be why her freedom cry is so popular with kids and … [Read more...]
Love is An Open Door (Ode to Frozen, Part 1)
Frozen! What an amazing movie. The first time I watched it, I thought it was pretty wonderful; but the more I watch it, the more I like it! You know a movie is good when you are willing to pay to see it on the big screen after you already own it. ~smile~ (My sweet sister-in-law bought it for me when it came out and we also saw it in our dollar theater.) If you have not seen it, I would encourage you to watch it at least once. Some people did not love it as much as I did, but that’s okay. Everyone can’t have great taste in movies. ~wink~ Perhaps what makes this movie so incredible is the … [Read more...]
How to Connect with Your Sweetie During a Season of Growth (April Showers, Part 3)
Do you ever thank God for the hard times He allows you to endure? To the world, such a concept often seems ridiculous. “Why would I be thankful for pain?” However, it is often in those trying times that we seek God more, grow more, and become more like Christ. April showers come and after they are gone, we get to enjoy beautiful May flowers. We love the “good” times, but what we don’t always realize is that we can stop growing and changing during the “pleasant” seasons unless we are on guard. Is it not easier to remember to water plants after they start wilting? When they look beautiful and … [Read more...]
