Did anyone else think that Kristoff turned our remarkably well considering he was raised by trolls? Who wouldn’t want to be raised by trolls? Well, I guess most of us wouldn’t, but these trolls were exceptional... I suppose. ~smile~ I must admit, the song Fixer-Upper does not hold a candle to Let it Go, but I definitely appreciated the message of the song. Did you? So He’s a Bit of a Fixer Upper. So He’s Got a Few Flaws... When I was a teenager, I spent a lot of time dreaming of the perfect man. He was going to be so handsome; sing like an angel; and, of course, treat me with respect at … [Read more...]
Let It Go (Ode to Frozen, Part 2)
If there has ever been a song that makes me feel like a big kid, it is Let It Go! I will admit to everyone reading this that I sing this song at the top of my lungs at home, in the car, and slightly less forcefully in parking lots, drive thrus, and department stores. ~smile~ Like millions of parents in America, I’m sure I will get sick of it eventually – but it has not happened yet! Something about Let it Go makes me feel like I can conquer the world! I just adore inspirational songs. ~smile~ Many of us can relate to Elsa, which might be why her freedom cry is so popular with kids and … [Read more...]
Love is An Open Door (Ode to Frozen, Part 1)
Frozen! What an amazing movie. The first time I watched it, I thought it was pretty wonderful; but the more I watch it, the more I like it! You know a movie is good when you are willing to pay to see it on the big screen after you already own it. ~smile~ (My sweet sister-in-law bought it for me when it came out and we also saw it in our dollar theater.) If you have not seen it, I would encourage you to watch it at least once. Some people did not love it as much as I did, but that’s okay. Everyone can’t have great taste in movies. ~wink~ Perhaps what makes this movie so incredible is the … [Read more...]
Win a Date with Tad Hamilton (Movie Connections, Part 3)
Okay, so this movie is a bit off the beaten path. It was cute, but I doubt it will go down as one of the most beloved movies of the 21st century. However, there is something about it I have always loved: The love of your life being right in front of your eyes. Romances that grow out of solid friendships are my favorite love stories. A dear friend of mine grew up with her husband. She can remember him as a kid. How cool is that? He was in her life even when she was in a long-term relationship with someone else. When the dust settled, he was there loving her. ~smile~ Another friend of … [Read more...]
The Sound of Music (Movie Connections, Part 2)
“The hills are alive with the sound of music! With songs they have sung for a thousand years. The hills fill my heart with the sound of music. My heart wants to sing every song it hears.” The Sound of Music was undoubtedly one of my favorite childhood movies. Thinking about it now makes me want to pop it in the DVD player and sing along! We watch Maria, Julie Andrew’s character, grow from a rather flighty, adorable, kid into a responsible, irresistible woman. I can so easily relate to Maria in the beginning of the movie. Living in a convent and failing to live by the rules (not that I … [Read more...]
