It’s that special time of year between Thanksgiving and Christmas. Don’t you just love it?! It is the season of turkey leftovers – turkey casserole, turkey sandwiches, turkey and cranberry sauce delight with a bit of mashed potato mixed in, and... crazed Christmas shopping. Ever since I was a small child, I enjoyed Christmas shopping and giving. How exciting is it to empty out your piggy bank, go to the store, and buy a small gift for your mom and dad – something just from you?! After I got my first part-time job, I went bananas! That Christmas, I purchased the biggest bunch of stuff … [Read more...]
Do You Have Freedom in Your Relationship?
Tomorrow is Independence Day in the United States of America. It is a time to celebrate the red, white, and blue! We will be shooting off fireworks, eating burgers and hot dogs, and (hopefully) thanking soldiers and their families for the sacrifices they have made to keep our nation free. The older I get, the more I appreciate freedom. Growing up, I knew nothing different; so, while I said I was thankful to live in a free country, I had no idea how it felt to live in poverty under harsh governmental oppression. Some fill the week after Christmas with fun and family time … [Read more...]
Christmas Fun: Christmas Eve Gift Exchange!
It is time for another Friday Christmas fun post! Whether you spend Christmas Eve with family, friends, or co-workers, consider organizing a quick (since Christmas Eve is tomorrow) gift exchange with a random flare. Unlike a traditional gift exchange, this one will require everyone involved to follow a specific directive. If you want to keep this idea in mind for next year, consider arranging a week-long gift exchange for your co-workers or family. Every day that week, challenge those involved to bring a wrapped gift from the designated category (e.g., Monday’s gifts can be no larger than 2 … [Read more...]
