Do you know who you are? Deep down in your core? When you wake up in the morning, do you know exactly what you are meant to do that day – or do you still grapple with the question, “What is my purpose?” You know, I thought I would have found myself by the time I turned thirty. Though I have made huge recent strides in self-exploration, there are still days when I’m unsure of myself. As a child, my career aspirations changed with each grade. As a five-year-old, I wanted to be a teacher. A little while later, I wanted to be a nurse. I wanted to be a writer in the third grade and in the fourth … [Read more...]
The Power of a Good Nap
The powers that be have declared today to be both Napping Day and Get Over It Day. Coincidence? Maybe, but they do fit hand in hand. Rest is powerful, not only in rejuvenating our bodies but in healing our minds. Do you ever remember your Mom or Dad consoling you after a rough day by saying, “It’ll be better in the morning.”? A good night’s sleep goes a long way towards changing our outlook on life. I’m Young! Why Should Rest Matter So Much? How to Give Yourself 30 More Minutes Per Day (or, Spend a Day Unplugged)
The idea of going off the grid excites me to no end (at least, for a day ~smile~)! But, that is, until I think about having to give up my computer and TV. When I consider a day without electronics, I imagine my husband being free! No iPhone, no iPad, no computer games, no Facebook, and no e-mails. Ahhh, what an exhilarating thought for me (and terrifying thought for him ~smile~). Even though such a day would require me to sacrifice a few conveniences I’ve grown to appreciate, I still think twenty-four hours without so much as a quick Facebook check would be incredible! ~smile~ According … [Read more...]
Creating New Friendships Together
Eric and I have different methods to making friends. He is will take the initiative and get to know new people while I hang back and wait for life to bring me together with others. He will approach new couples at church and talk to them while I wait for a Bible Study or ministry opportunity to naturally pair me with new people. He’s proactive and I’m reactive. ~smile~ I’m aware that it takes all kinds of people to make the world go round. It would be rough if we were all leaders; we would all stand around and argue about who gets to be in charge and whose plan is better. If we were all … [Read more...]
Experience the Love of Cuddly Creatures Together!
There is a reason so many of us “waste” valuable time watching cat and dog videos. They are so stinkin’ cute and funny! Even my efficiency-loving husband can spend half an hour watching funny pet videos on YouTube and even call me in to watch. Fluffy creatures have a way of lifting our spirits. We are attracted to soft and cuddly fabrics, such as plush comforters and pillows. Children all over the world have cushy stuffed animals. There is a special comfort we feel when soft, warm, cozy materials touch our skin. Ramsey From the time we got married, Eric and I both dreamed of getting a … [Read more...]
