Hopefully, dating will always be a part of your life. Not the awkward, first date kind of dating, but the connecting and reconnecting dates that keep husbands and wives close! One potential hazard to the marital dating scene is finances. To some, budget and finance are two of the dirtiest words in the English language, while others love a good budget and could speak in financial lingo all day. Whether you love the idea of a budget or hate it, the day may come when you find yourselves a little short on cash. The loss of a job, the birth of triplets (surprise!), medical bills – we never … [Read more...]
A Little Competition Does a Couple Good! (More Date Ideas for Connecting, Part 2)
Competition does a couple good, assuming they are on the same side. ~smile~ Eric and I sometimes hammer this point: Married couples are on the same team! If you are preparing to marry your sweetheart, it is time to start (or continue) thinking like a team! ~smile~ So, sharpen your teammate skills by competing together. What is your game? Tennis? Basketball? Maybe you prefer card games? Get together with some friends and enjoy some friendly competition. Group Dates Getting together with other people is good for couples. The child who comes out of rape situation … [Read more...]
Do You Have Birthday Traditions You Look Forward to Each Year? (Birthday Week, Part 2)
When I see the birthday parties which are thrown today for kids, I am sometimes left in complete awe. Maybe birthday parties have always been like this, but when I was a child we celebrated very differently. Perhaps it was because my extended family lived so close by, but almost all of my birthday parties were family parties. We got together, had cake and ice cream, and I opened gifts. What more could you ask for, really? ~smile~ When I was eight, I had my first “friend” party at the YMCA. Though it was fun, I did not expect a big party every year; and, I really don’t feel like my … [Read more...]
