While I'm not a fan of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, I did watch the finale of this season's Bachelorette. As always, the concept amazed… and saddened me. Here is a woman, dating a truckload of men and dumping most of them because there are other men at the house with better looks and qualities (at least from what she can tell in the short period of time she has there). After a few months she will accept one of their proposals, thereby sending the other men home in heartache and agony. Seriously?!? Have we, as a society, really come this far from God's design for courtship and … [Read more...]
Attitude is Altitude (Nick Vujicic)
"Wow." That's the best way I can describe this paradigm-shifting video. You will see yourself and your issues in a different light after watching this video. A lot of people may take away from this video the idea that things could always be worse; however, I think that Nick would rather have us take away the idea that things can always get better. Enjoy. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gc4HGQHgeFE … [Read more...]
How Important is Tithing?
Creating good habits early in your marriage is crucially important in a Christian marriage. One such area where it is important to become consistent is… tithing. In Malachi 3:10-12, God says "Bring the full tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. And thereby put me to the test, says … [Read more...]
Sex Before Marriage, Part 1 (Guest Post)
One topic that we haven't yet tackled much on this blog is sex - and yet people are having sex all the time... just look how many people are around! Along my blog reading, I found a woman who has a great website dedicated to talking about sex and intimacy within a Christian framework and I laughed quite a bit when reading her posts (her blog is fittingly called Hot, Holy, & Humorous). So, I asked her to guest post on here and she agreed! She prefers to remain anonymous and goes by the moniker: J. So, without further ado... Sex Before Marriage, Part 1 Godly sexuality essentially has two … [Read more...]
When are Girls Ready to Date?
A few weeks ago, my husband wrote a popular post titled: When are Guys Ready to Date? (The Quest for Authentic Manhood). To piggy back off of that, I’m going to discuss how to tell when a girl is ready to date. When I was younger, it felt like the age of sixteen would never come. For years, I heard my parents say that I couldn't date until I was sixteen. Personally, I thought I was ready to date at age nine (but, I was obviously wrong). Because I attended church youth groups and other youth activities, I had the ability to have boyfriends, and spend ample time with them, before I was … [Read more...]
