Happy quarantine, day twenty-one. Not sure when your quarantine began, but for Eric and me it began three weeks ago today. How are we doing, you ask? Eric is just great. He has not left the yard, even to drive around the block, and is doing excellently. Me? I am not twitching yet, but I can feel it coming! To keep sane, I have worked primarily under a tree in our backyard. It is amazing what the fresh air does for... well... some of us! How are you doing? It is rare when I write about a current event which touches us all. So often, my experience is limited to my region or country, but … [Read more...]
Hindsight Interview: Chris and Katherine Marlin
Today’s Hindsight interview was especially pleasant because we are all quarantined as a result of COVID-19! It was so nice to spend time with wonderful people – a couple we dearly enjoy. Spending time with happy, thriving former clients reminds us of why we do what we do! Chris and Katherine Marlin came to us over seven years ago during their courtship – both interested in learning, growing, and taking a long, hard look at their relationship. They met at Indiana University in the business school and were also active in Campus Crusade for Christ. Their relationship began during their junior … [Read more...]
Twenty Ways to Connect While Quarantined
What a crazy world we are living in right now. Just eight days ago, I was hanging out with a friend, going to McDonalds, and feeding my dog her very own vanilla ice cream cone. The next day, Eric sent me out to stock up on food. And, since then, I have not left my yard. It is amazing how quickly life can change. During this time, my mind and heart have turned to those expecting babies! One of the couples with whom we previously worked recently gave birth and, thankfully, all went well. We wish them so much joy and health in this uncertain time. Not only babies, but weddings! A super sweet … [Read more...]
Hindsight Reflection: Twenty Tips Regarding Conflict
“But, God, why?!” If I had a dollar for every time I sat in my car or bedroom, crying and asking God, “Why?”, I could buy a year’s supply of tissues. Eric and I love each other, but despite this love, we have “enjoyed” some memorable arguments! I was not prepared for this fact on our wedding day. I thought I was... but I was not... not at all. I was not prepared for us to lose it on each other in the Winnie the Pooh store, Disneyland (circa 2007). I was not prepared for road rage arguments leading to silent and lonely car trips. I was not prepared for the icy stare of an angry … [Read more...]
How to Know When She’s Ready for You to Propose
Knowing the excitement which goes into receiving a proposal, we were not surprised to find that this post was one of our most viewed over the years; but, perhaps it was not viewed so much by women who are excited, but by men who have the task of popping the question? We thought the topic was important enough to revisit during our year of Hindsight and we hope it blesses the next "generation" of pre-engaged gentlemen. ~smile~ If you find the article valuable, please like and share it with others! Though I have never proposed to anyone, I imagine planning to do so is both exciting and … [Read more...]
