As I approach my first Thanksgiving without Granny, I’m reminded of so many blessings I am thankful for in my life. Sometimes losing a loved one makes you more aware of all the good in your life. Have you ever experienced a heightened level of thankfulness after losing a loved one? The first blessing I am thankful for this year is Jesus Christ and the hope I have because of His death, burial, and resurrection. I owed a debt I couldn’t pay no matter how hard I worked, and Jesus submitted himself to be beaten, tortured, and crucified to pay my sin debt (and yours). Even though we hear it … [Read more...]
Memories that Shape Us: She’s Home! (The Thrill of Knowing my Precious Granny is with The Lord)
As I've mentioned before in other posts, my Grandma Lillie (Granny Jones) has had a profound influence over my life. She was a model of godliness for others and myself and she came second to none in the areas of hospitality, unconditional love, and prayer. In my thirty years on this planet, I never remember her wavering from the truth and she stood on God’s Word until the end. Then, on October 17th, 2012 at approximately 2:40pm, Granny Jones went home... to her eternal home. In 2008, Granny started going downhill when her back started causing her a lot of pain. I’m not sure if he demanded a grade change or not, but at any rate, he caused a scene over his low “B” grade. First of all, I was floored at the thought of bombarding a professor in such a way as this student did, but I was equally amazed that he could write such a poor paper and still have … [Read more...]

Major Turn Offs in Relationships – Bad Hygiene (Turn Offs, Part 5)
Maybe bad hygiene is a bigger turn off for women than men, but I can’t imagine too many men standing in line to talk to a woman in sweat pants who hasn’t bathed in days (unless she’s a celebrity). Women may be more vocal about the issue of hygiene, but both men and women appreciate those who bath and groom regularly. When I left for college, I had no idea how blessed I’d be in the roommate department. I was roommates with a friend from my hometown area – and though we had our normal share of roommate squabbles, I am pleased to announce to the world that she bathed... daily! This may not … [Read more...]
