The “Year of Experiences”™ is underway! I’m currently in the process of listing various experiences I want to have this year. Some will be with Eric – and some will probably be without him. Eric and I were married towards the beginning of our graduate school careers. We had a few months off from school the summer of our wedding and then we jumped back in to full-time work and part-time school. This was how we spent the first four years of our marriage. After we graduated, we began focusing on PreEngaged and other various pursuits. There has always been a goal – whether specific or vague … [Read more...]
I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore!
Believe it or not, today is I’m Not Going To Take It Anymore day. Interesting holiday. It’s a holiday I wish I’d taken a few decades ago. Not so much anymore, but when I was younger, I had an extremely hard time standing up for myself. I let guilt guide my thinking. I never wanted to upset anyone. I would put up with situations I should have never tolerated. Harmony was (and often still is) the name of my game. I suppose if I was truly happy with myself in those circumstances, it would’ve been fine, but I wasn’t. I felt defeated. It seemed like everyone else’s wants, desires, and agendas … [Read more...]
Accepting Who I Really Am Changed My Life!
Have you ever tried to be someone you’re not? Or, have you ever tried to be someone you’re not for so long that you lost touch with your authentic self? I honestly believed I was one personality type with a traditionalist temperament as well as a fairly scheduled and organized person. I was brought up to behave that way and I was taught (and learned) that was the best way to live. Sure, I struggled to keep my house clean, I was late everywhere, and I hated following … [Read more...]
Happy New Year!!! Let’s Experience Life This Year!!!
Happy New Year, everyone! Is it just me or was 2014 the fastest year yet? They say life is like a toilet paper roll. The closer you get to the end, the faster it goes. ~smile~ And it’s true! When I was a kid, I could not wait for my birthday and Christmas. It took forever for them to finally come. Now my birthday almost catches me off guard. “Seriously, it’s that time again? I just got used to being this age!” Christmas shopping also does not have a definite start or end. “Did I not just finish Christmas shopping? We’re doing this again?” When I was desperately awaiting my sixteenth … [Read more...]
Farewell, 2014!
“Don't cry because it's over; smile because it happened.” – Dr. Seuss Can you believe we are bidding another year farewell? Each year seems to go by faster than the last! When I was a teenager, I could not wait to turn sixteen. My uncle warned me that once I reached my sixteenth year, the rest of my years would fly by – and he was so right! Maybe it is because time seems to go by so much faster now, but cherishing the moments I have with loved ones is more important to me than it has ever been. As a child, life appeared endless. Everything was ahead of me. Nowadays, there is a lot ahead … [Read more...]
