We cannot help you much with the fiction department from our writings, but we can hook you up with some non-fiction!
More on that in a minute!
Wedding Season is Bringing Me Down!
Perhaps you have been to a handful of weddings already this season or seen dozens of engagement pictures pile up on Facebook. If you are still “patiently” waiting for your fairytale romance, the normal human response to such stimuli is to feel frustration, anger, confusion, anger, helplessness, anger, and also anger (you are not alone, my friend). However, once the dark cloud passes, you can choose to take those feelings and channel them into something positive. (Sometimes it takes longer for the dark cloud to pass than other times.)
At certain times in my life, I found that preparing for events was a source of comfort during the wait. Occasionally, I buy a baby outfit just because I want to keep the dream of our having children alive. My basement is filled with hand-me-down baby items from friends. A couple of years ago, I began a journal for my baby. I thought it would be special for him or her to read about the emotions which led up to his or her arrival. Doing something to prepare can be cathartic.
Are You Preparing Your Fields for Rain?
I am reminded of this scene from Facing the Giants – specifically the story about the two farmers who prayed for rain. One farmer prayed and waited for rain, while the other farmer prayed and prepared his fields to receive the rain. We can pray and hope God will answer us, or we can pray and prepare our lives to receive His blessings.
As you pray for your spouse, you can save money. You can learn valuable skills which will benefit your marriage. You can spend time with children and begin honing child-rearing skills. You can take notice of your weaknesses and begin working to improve them. There are so many ways to prepare.
And reading is one excellent way to prepare! With knowledge comes power and reading about marriage will likely open your mind to a whole new world of understanding. Though no amount of reading will sufficiently prepare you for everything in marriage, it can help build a solid foundation so you are equal to the challenge when you meet your special lady or gentleman.
We want to help you in this endeavor.
It is Time for Another PreEngaged Blessing!
For this month’s PreEngaged Blessing, we are giving away a PreEngaged coffee mug and your choice of any one of our digital books. All you have to do to enter the contest is contact us and tell us topics about which you would like us to make a purchasable course (i.e., to what topics or issues are you facing which you would love to have the answers?).
Each viable topic is an entry! It is that simple! We want to know which topics you would like help with most – and, in return, we will gladly send one lucky winner (picked at random) a PreEngaged mug and a book to enjoy while relaxing under the sun – or in cool air conditioning!
We hope you are enjoying these monthly PreEngaged Blessings. If you have a thought about how we can make them better or a specific giveaway which would interest you, please contact us and let us know your ideas!
Which of our books would you like to receive absolutely free?[Edit: The above contest was for June 2016 and is now completed. Stay tuned for further opportunities!]
