Have them! It's as simple as that! When couples are dating, they naturally have numerous dates. Perhaps they are cheap dates such as a walk in the park or a long talk over a cup of coffee. Maybe they are high dollar dates to the opera or to a fancy restaurant. At any rate, we tend to spend a lot of time together dating before marriage. However, it is just as important to date after marriage. When life happens and that person you thought you could never get enough of begins to aggravate you in twenty different ways, it is important to get out and do what you both enjoy together so you can … [Read more...]
Having a Bad Day?
Some days are just rough. Perhaps the minute you got out of bed, today, things started to go wrong. Maybe you scalded yourself in the shower, nicked yourself shaving, forgot your coffee on the way to work, and received a speeding ticket as you were running late. From time to time, all of us have a rough day. Perhaps, normally, you are usually happy in the morning and maybe you even sing as you get ready and leave for work with a big smile on your face. Children are a blessing. As I type, our dear friends are at the hospital to have their first baby. We are all so excited and cannot wait to meet the new bundle! What is so amazing about little children, aside from the fact that they are adorable, is how quickly they soak up information. They are little sponges for the first few years of their lives. The things they pick up on are astounding and there is no such thing as a secret if they happen to overhear it! When my cousin, David, now thirty-eight years old, was a small child he was riding somewhere with my granddaddy when a car pulled out … [Read more...]
Find a Cause that’s Bigger than the Both of You
The Bible is clear in Proverbs 29:18 that people perish if they don’t have a vision. Unless we are living for something that is bigger than ourselves, and unless we focus on specific, written goals, we won’t succeed in our lives. When we get married, it is no longer simply about our lives and vision, but a new vision emerges. Couples in the early stages of marriage might find that they are completely content with just being together all the time and that they need little “extra-curricular” activity to keep them happy. For almost all relationships, however, those days pass, and if a marriage is … [Read more...]
