This afternoon is one of my favorite kinds of afternoons. There are soft rumbles of thunder in the air and rain is falling softly outside. Sitting on the bed with the laptop in my lap, I feel the urge to turn off all sounds in the house and enjoy the gentle sounds of the rain. Listening to the drops fall, I think about the goodness of God. After He made His creation, He said that it was “good.” (Genesis 1:31) Whatever He does is always good though it may not always seem as such at the time; however, no matter what trials we encounter, He is still good… because goodness defines who God … [Read more...]
The Fruit of the Spirit: Kindness
Often, people shy away from being kind to others because they have been previously hurt. For some, they were kind to people who took advantage of them; whereas, some people equate kindness with weakness; and where some people think that kindness is being fake. Whatever your initial thoughts are in regards to kindness, showing kindness is a byproduct of walking with Christ. If you are filled with the Holy Spirit, kindness will flow from you. Their happiness faded when their circumstances changed. Happiness shows on the faces of college graduates as they walk across the stage, but chances are those happy smiles will fade as they take on the stresses and responsibilities of their new occupation, family, and lives. Joy is not based on circumstances. Joy is not dependent on external stimuli. … [Read more...]
