Have you ever watched people walk through the process of choosing a new cell phone plan? Did you notice the way they went back and forth between the newest phones, painstakingly researching each phone's features and reading countless customer reviews? Perhaps they even put off the task for a few months because the stress of choosing was just too much for them. After all, this one decision will affect them for the next two years - unless they opt to get out of their contract, which then they would have to pay the high early termination fee. After watching someone go through this process … [Read more...]
Keep Learning Together
When we're young and in school, we tend to look forward to life after graduation as a time of freedom from all things scholastic. Since school is so mentally taxing and takes so many years to complete, it is exciting to think about the time when you no longer have to study. However, when you graduate, it is important to keep learning. Fortunately, you can choose whatever you want to pour your energies into learning – and at your own pace – but, it is imperative that you keep learning. Do You Have a Relationship Calendar?
When I was a kid, I used to automatically think of a food item when I heard a day of the week. Hearing "Thursday" still makes me think of fried chicken in my elementary school lunch room; Monday meant small square sausage (or some other unidentifiable meat) pizza; and Fridays were long, triangular, pepperoni pizza (which meant "party time!"). Once you move past the naked baby stage, you get into awkward kid phase where your teeth are missing, your leg is broken, and you … [Read more...]

What will you be doing today on Independence Day? If you are like many Americans, fireworks will be involved. Maybe you will have burgers, potato salad, and Jell-o shaped like an American flag. At any rate, you will likely be celebrating. Sometimes I wonder if we really give much thought to what we are celebrating on July 4th. None of the Founding Fathers or soldiers who fought hard to gain our independence are alive today to tell us the difficulties they faced. Those of us born in the latter 20th or early 21st century (though I hope no one born in the 21st century is currently contemplating … [Read more...]
