Marriage is one of the biggest adjustments to anyone’s life. It may seem like a fairy tale beforehand, but after becoming man and wife, there are a number of things that will take some time getting used to them. Sharing a bed may sound like a dream come true at this point, but when it comes time to actually sleep, you may find that getting used to having someone in bed with you may be considerably out of your comfort zone. Depending on how long you've been single, it may feel overwhelming at first to have to consider the other's needs in all of your decisions. If you are used to spending … [Read more...]
How to Create a Vision Statement for Your Life
When you get up in the morning, do you ever stop and ask yourself, "Why am I getting up today?" It is easy to fall into a routine that is seldom questioned. We have to eat, so we go to work, but do we think more deeply about it? "What am I getting up to accomplish this morning? What will I do today that will move me closer towards the vision I have for my life? I get the sense that many of us do not take the time to pray, ponder and write down a vision statement for our lives. Sometimes we playfully agitate her to get a reaction (e.g., she always jerks her head when we blow on her face). Afterwards, she gets up, and shakes herself off. Once again, she … [Read more...]
Experiences to Avoid Together
Of all the brilliant pieces of advice given to young couples, there are a few I feel that I must uncover as vicious, false myths: “If you want to grow closer to your wife or girlfriend, then shop with her.” “Even if you’re not interested, take the time to watch sports with your man.” “If you want to bond with your spouse (or spouse to be), cook with him/her.” So, let me take some time to expose these falsehoods for you… First, men are told, "If you want to grow closer to your wife or girlfriend, then shop with her." I'm sure there … [Read more...]
