On December 23rd, sometime around 11pm, Eric and I were in Wal-Mart picking up a few last minute Christmas items. The store was still full and only a few registers were open, so the lines at the express check-out lanes were long – to say the least. We got in line and waited some time when the cashier in the line next to us turned his light off and told the people in his line that he would take the next couple of customers, but that the other customers would need to find a different line. Almost everyone would agree that it is terribly annoying to wait in line only to find out that you … [Read more...]
Relationship Quotes and Commentary
I love the way a simple quote can make me stop and think. I hope you enjoy the quotes below! [note color="#FCFB95"]Strike an average between what a woman thinks of her husband a month before she marries him and what she thinks of him a year afterward, and you will have the truth about him. -- H.L. Mencken, A Book of Burlesques, 1916 (American journalist, essayist, magazine editor, and satirist; 1880-1956)[/note] This quote certainly struck a chord with me! Before Eric and I got married, it seemed like he could do anything, and even if he couldn't, I didn't care because I felt such … [Read more...]
Our Wedding (Our Story, Part IV)
{If you came here in the middle of the story, you may want to start with Good Friends Make the Best Spouses (Our Story, Part I) first!} While enjoying the idea of being engaged, we realized that we had some major differences. He was a go-getter and I was, shall we say, not a go-getter. He was a perfectionist; whereas, I wanted to save time, money, and headache. While I had vague ideas of what I’d like the wedding to look like, I really just wanted it to come together, look nice, and not worry over the details. This is when I realized just how much Eric lives for details... and how crazy it … [Read more...]
‘Tis the Season to Love
In several recent posts, I've made it very clear that I love Christmas shopping. I look forward to gathering around the tree and passing out gifts. While I enjoying opening them, I get a bigger thrill out of watching other people open their gifts. But, upon reflection, I realize that I can't remember many of the gifts I've given or received over the years.... Yes, certain items stand out. There was that one Christmas that Eric got me the complete Cosby Show series and I teared up and was speechless just like when he proposed to me. There was the time I gave my friend seasons one and two of … [Read more...]
Are You Letting Your Dog Put You to Shame?
A while back, I wrote a post about how Eric wanted me to act as happy as our dog does to see him come home from work. So, when I recently ran across the song, "Like My Dog" by Billy Currington, I had to smile. While I didn't appreciate some of the language used towards the end of the song, I found the concept to be true. Ladies, I think you might be surprised to learn how much dogs can teach us about how to treat our fellows! They are man's best friend for a reason, after all! Below are a few lyrics to Billy's song: He never tells me that he's sick of this house He never says, "Why don't … [Read more...]
