Obviously, prayer is a huge part of the life of a Christ follower. Some days, I don’t know how I could get through life if I was not able to carry my joy and sorrow to the Lord in prayer. You will never hear me (by the grace of God) tell someone that he or she should not pray; however, before a couple commits to marry each other, I would recommend that they exercise caution in spending too much time praying together. Of the spiritual intimacies discussed in this series, prayer is one of the most intimate spiritual experiences you can share with another person. Whether or not dating couples … [Read more...]
How Much Should We Serve Together? (Spiritual Intimacy and Dating, Part 3)
Up until this past June, I have always been a teacher’s kid. When I was in kindergarten, my mom taught the first grade. When I moved to the first grade, Mom moved to Kindergarten. She stayed in kindergarten until I was about eleven-years-old and then she moved to second grade where she remained for the duration of her career. Some of my earliest memories took place at Brinson Memorial Elementary School. Some mornings we were there early enough to see the sun peek over the trees and many nights, we were there as the sun ducked below the trees signifying the end of another day. In other words, … [Read more...]
Spiritual Intimacy and Dating: How Far is Too Far? (Spiritual Intimacy and Dating, Part 1)
Sharing spiritual intimacy with someone while you’re dating can be tricky. On the one hand, you need to witness your boyfriend’s or girlfriend’s walk with the Lord in such a way that you can be sure he or she is showing spiritual fruit (i.e., signs of godliness and true repentance), displaying spiritual growth, and if you would want this person spiritually leading you (or following you) for a lifetime. On the other hand, dating is a time when you are simply getting to know a person who interests you. To go on a date with someone is not to commit to loving and caring for him or her for a … [Read more...]

Since I have enjoyed my jobs in calm offices surrounded by staplers, paperclips, and file … [Read more...]
The Best Debates are not Done Late!
“Did you take the trash out?” “No, I’ll do it in the morning before work.” “What?!? You know you always press snooze twenty times and you’re late for work every day as it is! Take it out tonight.” “No... I’ll take it out in the morning and I’m NOT always late for work. Don’t tell me when to take out the trash. I’m a grown man! I’ll take it out when I feel like it.” “Don’t talk to me like that and if you acted like a grown man I wouldn’t have to remind you to do basic chores. Sarah Ann’s husband, Bob, never has to be reminded to do anything and he’s sweet to her ALL the time!” “Well, go live … [Read more...]
