I love the Andy Griffith Show. Those who know me are keenly aware of this fact. Eric was quickly indoctrinated in the ways of Mayberry culture after we got married. In fact, it’s on and muted on the TV right now. Even if I’m too busy to listen to it, it’s nice to look up and see Andy and Barney working shoulder to shoulder against organized crime. ~smile~ The sixteenth chapter of Boundaries in Dating is titled Nip it In the Bud. As one of Barney Fife’s signature lines, “Nip it in the bud” stood out to me when I was deciding what three topics (there is so much in this book I could talk … [Read more...]
Don’t Fall in Love with Someone Who Isn’t Friend Material (Book Review, Boundaries in Dating, Part 2)
Are you dating your friend? Take some time and look past the attraction. Is there more? Do you enjoy conversation? Can you be in a room together without touching and still deeply enjoy each other’s company? Today I’m highlighting the seventh chapter of Boundaries in Dating (Don’t Fall In Love with Someone You Wouldn’t be Friends With). Where was this book when I was dating?!?! ~smile~ My Best Friend Eric is my best friend. If there is anyone I can be myself with, it’s him. He knows my faults all too well and he loves me anyway. We get angry with each other occasionally, but our friendship is … [Read more...]

If not, run to your local bookstore or go online and order at least one book from the series today. I’ve read Boundaries in Marriage and Boundaries in Dating – both after I was married. They were both amazing, but interestingly, … [Read more...]
You’re Gonna Miss This
A few years ago, driving to work one morning, Trace Adkins' song You’re Gonna Miss This came on the radio and, boy, did I get emotional. I was at a point in my life where I was simply unhappy. Or perhaps more than unhappy, I was weary. There were dreams I had for my life that weren’t coming to pass and I focused most of my attention on what was going wrong instead of what was going right. Yes, I had a great job working with some great people, but I wanted to be a stay-at-home mom. Yes, I had an amazing husband, but we were too busy and I wanted a calmer life. Yes we had a home, but I wanted … [Read more...]
Do You Need a Personality Transplant?
Do you ever believe love, relationships, and good times would come your way if you could just have a personality transplant? If so, I understand where you’re coming from... at least to a point. I’ve spent a lot of my life not appreciating my own personality. Personality Traits Because I’m characteristically introverted, I don’t enjoy public speaking, I struggle to walk up to strangers and start conversations, and I need a lot of alone time. Instead of viewing my preferences and needs as perfectly normal for someone like me, I would automatically assume it was better to be … [Read more...]
