This past year, Eric and I wrote a book titled: “So You Want to be a Fiancée?: How pre-engagement counseling can change your life.” During this series, we are highlighting a handful of chapters! Today, we’re looking at the fifth chapter: What Should I Do If My Guy or Gal is not Interested in Pre-Engagement or Premarital Counseling? A New Concept Many of our pre-engaged couples have told us their friends think they are crazy for seeking out counseling before engagement. New paradigms are hard to receive at first. How many people were hesitant to try Facebook, but now cannot be dragged away … [Read more...]
Is Pre-Engagement Counseling Right for Me? (So You Want to be a Fiancée?, Part 1)
This past year, Eric and I wrote a book titled: So You Want to be a Fiancée?: How pre-engagement counseling can change your life. During this series, we are highlighting a handful of chapters! Today, we’re looking at the second chapter: Is Pre-Engagement Counseling Right for Me? Who Benefits from Pre-Engagement Counseling? Eric and I fell in love over college cafeteria food and rousing psychological discussions – just your run of the mill, everyday fairytale romance. ~smile~ We loved to sit in the dining hall and try to ‘type’ our fellow students' personalities. She's sitting alone reading a book on philosophy. She is probably an introvert and she is likely intuitive. This may not sound like your cup of tea, but there is nothing more exciting to a couple of adorable psychology nerds such as us. ~smile~ Recently, when I was reading Confronting Without Offending by Deborah Smith Pegues, I discovered another … [Read more...]
