This Thursday will be ten years since one naïve little lady (and a not as naïve young man) walked the aisle and became husband and wife. ~smile~ Ten years brings a lot of change and many life lessons. Below are just a few truths I have discovered since becoming a wife. It’s All About R-E-S-P-E-C-T. As a single woman, it used to bug me so much to see women disrespect, emasculate, and disregard their husbands. It especially bugged me when they alluded to being the boss of the family. I hated (and continue to hate) commercials that make women look smart and strong while … [Read more...]
Belly Laugh Your Way to a Better Relationship
How often do you and your sweetie laugh together? When you do, do you eek out polite, half-hearted chuckles, or do you completely lose control and roll in the aisles until you look like complete nuts? One way to tell if you are comfortable with someone is to notice how you laugh in front of him or her. If you laugh but hold back, are you all that comfortable? I assure you, if you ever tell me a joke and I lose it – really lose it – and double over laughing with tears coming out of my eyes, I am comfortable with you. ~smile~ Laughter is a natural tonic for relationships. Still, once in a while I want to give in to my inner-child. She just wants to … [Read more...]

Everyone else in our life may “know” which road we should take, but our decisions are seldom as cut and dry as our confident friends and family make them out to be. But, it is also true that we lose objectivity when our hearts are involved. So, in the spirit of … [Read more...]
Experience Friday: Heather, the Snake Handler!
Day One: I made the call. Shane at Pet and Aquatic Warehouse put my mind at ease. I called and asked if I could come in and hold a snake without being a serious buyer – pretending to be interested in purchasing a snake is not an experience that interests me ~smile~ – and he said, “Sure, people come in here all the time just wanting to hold stuff.” Whew! Step one to overcoming my fear of the creepy, crawling, potentially deadly creature I have hated since my infancy (i.e., calling and arranging the opportunity): complete. Actually, it was really step 1B. The actual first step was simply … [Read more...]
