As I was pondering what to put for today’s post, I thought it would be a great time to remind people to get out and vote! Many ancestors died and bled to secure the right and privilege for us to vote today – we should not cast it aside in vain.
The two topics often considered taboo are religion and politics. Since we regularly bring up religion (in the form of Christianity) here, let’s talk about politics. It is very important for you to discuss what you believe politically – whether or not you would be active in demonstrating – with your future spouse. Not so much the particular people, but the political ideologies about what you believe will filter in how you live your life.
Whether you believe the government should have more control or less control over public affairs, the economy, the media, the education system, etc. will play into not only for whom you vote, but also will reflect in how you take care of yourself (or if you think the government should take care of you) – and those decisions will affect your future spouse and children.
I saw comedian Tim Hawkins on Sunday in concert, so I thought the below video by him would be a fun ending to a post – though, poignant as well. Get out and vote otherwise, you will let those who disagree with you who are voting win by default. If you believe this country is heading in the wrong direction (no matter what direction that is), then it is your duty to make your voice heard by voting followed with prayer that the Lord will have mercy on us by establishing elected officials who have the people’s best interest at heart and to remove officials whose primary agenda is to increase in power. Again, get out and vote.
